Recipes to Satisfy Your Pandemic Cravings

With the virus lurking everywhere, going out to eat or even grocery shopping can be the kiss of death. Donut worry. This too shall pas-ta. Until then, these recipes will keep you satiated, no matter how empty your pantry may be. Kids, make sure you have an adult helping you at all times!

Mug Pasta

If you love cheese and macaroni, this mug pasta will hit the spot every time. It’s truly the best after-school snack!

Preparation and cooking time: 7-8 minutes

Serving size: one mug


¼ cup elbow macaroni 

¼  cup water

1 teaspoon capsicum, chopped (optional) 

3 teaspoons milk

2 teaspoons all-purpose flour 

1 tablespoon grated cheese (optional)

Salt, to taste


1. In a microwavable coffee mug, add the macaroni and water.

2. Zap them together for about one minute at 800 watts. Repeat this process three times until the macaroni has softened. Stir the pasta every time you microwave it.

3. Drain the water.

4. Add the chopped capsicum. Mix the milk and all-purpose flour. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt and some cheese.

5. Mix all the ingredients and then microwave it for two minutes at 800 watts.

Blueberry Muffins 

Cool the cupcakes after they come out of the oven. Store any leftovers in an airtight container. 

Preparation and cooking time: 15-40 minutes 

Serving size: 5-6 muffins 



¾ cup yogurt 

¼  cup melted butter 

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

1 ¼  cup all-purpose flour 

1 teaspoon baking powder 

½ teaspoon baking soda 

½ cup blueberries 


1. Pre-heat oven to 180℃.

2. Combine the yogurt, melted butter, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. 

3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. 

4. Mix the dry ingredients into the first bowl in two batches. Mix well after each addition. 

5. Add blueberries into the batter. The batter should be thick but not stiff. 

6. Line cupcake tray with parchment paper. Fill about ¾  full. 

7. Bake at 180℃ for 35-40 mins. Insert a toothpick to check the cupcakes are baked through. If not, bake them for another 5-7 minutes.  

Pizza Bites 

All you really need are some Ritz crackers and cheese for this easy recipe. So easy and hits the spot every time! Make sure an adult helps you with the oven.

Preparation and cooking time: 2-5 minutes



Crackers (any brand like Ritz) 

Pizza/pasta sauce 

Toppings like corn, olives, and capsicum 



1. Spread pasta or pizza sauce on your cracker of choice.

2. Add all of your toppings. Grate some cheese on top. 

3. Bake in the oven for about 4-5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
