Ace Your Boards – Yes, It Can be Done!
As a CBSE student, you’ve been prepping to take the 10th and 12th grade Board Exams since you entered high school. But two months before the tests, you realize you’re not sure how to study for the exams. Worry not. We’ve compiled a few different tactics you can use to ace the Boards.
Start Early
Exams require extensive preparation and practice, so it is best to start as early as possible. Finish the required material beforehand, giving you time to do mock tests, get help, and practice different types of questions. The ideal time to start is anywhere between two to three months before.
Make a Schedule
Plan out a schedule for each day of the week leading up to the test. A schedule ensures you get adequate practice each day and helps you to stay on track throughout your preparation, while also letting you keep a track of the time spent on each topic. The schedule can include specific topics or just a particular subject you wish to tackle on that day.
Get Help from Teachers
While you study, identify any problems you have and get help from your teachers. Don’t be afraid to approach them. The most important thing to remember is that there are no stupid questions!
Reference Books
One of the best ways to prepare for an exam is to use a reference book. For Board Exams, Oswaal’s reference books can help. Oswaal is a publishing company based in India that publishes the latest books for the preparation of competitive exams. Use the Mind Map to familiarize yourself with the content and find out if you missed something. Target a chapter daily. Make notes, practice questions, and once you are confident, practice mock tests.
Previous Year Question Papers/ Mock Tests
Taking mock tests is crucial for test preparation. By putting yourself in a test-taking environment, you can familiarize yourself with the types of questions that will be asked, as well as how to solve them. Use papers from previous years to understand the type of questions that are likely to come on the test. Practice with mock tests regularly and set a schedule.
Stay Calm
Taking breaks is very important! Don’t forget to take 10-15 minute naps throughout the day to help you refresh and calm down. This way you get more work done and you won’t feel so tired all the time.
Day of the Exam
Cramming does not help. Make sure you get adequate time to revise and don’t stress. Stress can adversely affect you. Furthermore, do make sure you get a good night’s sleep the night before. This way you’ll wake up feeling positive and refreshed. Additionally, don’t study on the morning of the exam. Instead, try to keep calm, meditate, share a quick talk with your family members, and stay positive.
